Downspout Water Management Systems
Many foundation problems are caused by the lack of proper downspout drainage. You may have gutters, which may collect runoff water from the eaves of your home and distribute to locations around your home. Although gutters are helpful in preventing erosion, it’s only a start in your water management system. With gutters working alone, water is pooling in multiple locations around your home. Eventually, this can allow water to erode the foundation, surrounding soils and landscape.
By connecting downspouts to a water management system, the water can be relocated to a more suitable area or to a lawn area to be reabsorbed far from the foundation. Pipe size, clean-out pipe, catch basin, air gap, connectors along with water volume and velocity are all factors that would be considered before the installation process begins.
